Little Ball of Fur

Jinx is on day 2 and he's doing really well.

Jinx is 4 weeks and 1 day old.

He weighs 14 ounces.

He can run from the living room to the kitchen before he gets tired.

He loves to eat and cuddle with his brothers.

He woke up this morning and was still kind of sleepy. He took a nap on Mommy...

Then he had some Mommy time.

He had some 2nd breakfast and it was more on his face than in his belly! :)

When this little guy is out... he is OUT! He has the cutest little toes!

Had a little more sleepy time with Mommy and bonded with Boomer.

Jinx 4 Weeks

We've been talking about adopting a new kitten since we lost Teddy in November, I guess today was the day. I got up this morning and checked Craigslist. Voila! There he was. We did have to dive to Suffolk to get him... but he will be worth it!

4 Weeks Old

Weighs 12 Ounces

He's eating baby milk and a little bit of Kitten Wet Food.

He can run about 4 feet before he has to stop.

He sleeps about 20 hours a day.

Boomer and Spot are currently undecided if they will allow him to remain in the house.

Here he is with his brothers and sisters. He's the little light yellow one in the top right. Next is Jinx in my lap in the car on the ride home. He was meowing and meowing almost the whole 25 miles. He finally calmed down and relaxed a bit.. just long enough to realize that he was warm and decided to take a nap.

 We gave him a bath when we got home.. We saw one flea, so better safe than sorry.

 Jinxie's had a rough day... He's going to be napping for a while.

He had a little dinner... and then got tired.

And got tired again. He's had a long day!

Francis Land Historic Home

We needed something to do today, so we decided to head over to a local historical site and see what it was. We've lived here for so long and had driven by a million times and had never stopped.

The house was built circa 1805, but the property was deeded to the Land family since the early 1630's and was originally surrounded by hundreds of acres of farmland. The home that sits on the site is that of the homestead of Francis Land IV. He was a wealthy man and plantation owner in the Princess Anne County area of Virginia, now known as Virginia Beach.

The architecture of the outside is classic Georgian and the internal is revised to Federal style. The Francis Land Family only lived in this house until 1819 when the Francis and his wife died. The home stayed with the two Land daughters until about 1851 when it was sold to a non family member. It was a farm, a dairy farm, and eventually in the 1920's a fine ladies dress shop. Virginia Beach City stepped in and bought the house and it's surrounding 7 acres and created the museum in 1986. The house is officially listed as a Virginia Historical Landmark

The tree to the left was a three pronged tree and was struck by lightening. An arborist attempted to save the tree by filling the joint with cement and bricks. It's nearly grown over the bricks and the tree was saved! It was an interesting place and I really enjoyed the afternoon.

Thoroughgood House I

Today, after we went to Fort Story to see the Cape Henry Lighthouse, www headed over to the Adam Thoroughgood House. Daleena has never been there.

Afternoon at Fort Story

This afternoon, we drove (with Daleena) to Fort Story to see the Cape Henry Lighthouse.

*It's the brick one on the hill to the right.

The Cape Henry Lighthouse was built in 1792.

Walked across the street to the First Landing Park Area.

 Except for the gigantic cross, it was pretty cool.

Baltimore Side Trip

I was in Easton, MD to work for a week and decided to drag Terry along with me. On the second day, I finished early and we headed out to Baltimore for the afternoon to see a few sights...

Oriole's Stadium--

Inner Harbor with the USS Constitution in the background.

The Inner Harbor, just a little part the USS Constitution is the USS Torsk and the tugboat The Chesapeake. Both absolutely beautiful!

Also in the Inner Harbor is the World Trade Center of Baltimore. This exhibit sits in front.

Outside Time

Boomer hung out by the big tree in the backyard today. He loves smelling the air and seeing what might be around the corner. He's afraid to go check it out, but he's still curious!

He spent a few days figuring out how it worked, and finally was able to get on board with the program.
